To ensure people must comply with the lockdown, the Police Department had made elaborated arrangements within municipal limits, on Sunday. Police personnel remained on toes throughout the day. Since morning extra police force was deployed at squares and streets to check public and vehicular movement. For the same, temporary barricading was also done at selected points. Senior police officials also conducted inspection of concerned areas and ensured proper law and order situation. It may be noted that the State Home Department had on March 20 directed for 32-hours lockdown in major cities of Madhya Pradesh including Jabalpur to prevent coronavirus infection. Accordingly, complete lockdown was imposed in the city.

This was the third lockdown clamped in Jabalpur on Sunday. It came into force at 10 pm on Saturday and will remain in force till 6 am on Monday. Due to the lockdown all important roads and market places of the city wore a deserted look. Except emergency services, all public and vehicular movement was restricted. The Police department had deployed additional police pickets in different areas of the city for proper compliance of lockdown.

The police allowed citizens to avail only emergency services. Police personnel interrogated those who came out of the house for urgent work. To ensure the lockdown remained successful, police department had made foolproof arrangements in entire city. Additional police personnel were deployed at all selected spots to avoid violation of the lockdown. It may be noted that the district administration has already directed to the Executive Magistrates and police officials to strictly follow restrictive order. It also instructed concerned officials to take action under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions against those violating prohibitory orders.
