Lashing out at the ruling Congress Government in its failure to contain COVID-19 pandemic in State as well as its failure to chalk out a comprehensive theory to fight against Left Wing Extremism, Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice President and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said “I don’t know whether the Congress will be 100 seats in Assam or not, but one this is for sure that the people have lost 100 per cent faith on the Congress Government. Dr Raman Singh while addressing a press conference on Sunday alleged that at a time when Chhattisgarh is reeling under heavy surge of COVID-19 pandemic and on a day when a major Naxal incident has taken place in the state where 24 security personnel had been killed during encounter with the Maoists, the Chief Minister who should be here in Chhattisgarh, is away campaigning in Assam.

Dr Singh also added the adage “When Rome was burning, Nero was playing flute”, for the Chief Minister. This is the terrifying situation in Chhattisgarh and who’s responsible for making this situation. Quoting the Health Minister’s statement, the former Chief Minister said the Health Minister is stating that COVID situation in Chhattisgarh is very grim. As per his statement, there are no beds available in ICU. He said since Saturday he’s trying to get a bed with a ventilator for a patient from his Assembly constituency Rajnandgaon, but starting from AIIMS Raipur to all government and private hospitals, no bed is available.

This is the explosive situation in whole Chhattisgarh, no beds are available in Raipur, Durg-Bhilai, Rajnandgaon, etc. Who’s responsible for this heavy surge. He said if we look at the deaths due to COVID-19, despite disparity in the figures, huge casualties are being reported. When there are no ventilators, beds with oxygen and normal beds for COVID patients, the question arises here that what happened to Rs 600 crore which was collected as cess for developing infrastructure to fight COVID-19 pandemic. Why did the state government fail to make necessary arrangements for ventilators, beds with oxygen. The basis reason for the heavy surge is that the state government politicized the issue of vaccination and didn’t carry out vaccination drives when it was necessary.

This was coupled with holding cricket matches in the capital and huge crowds were allowed into the stadium. Terming the Naxal incident in Bijapur as very painful and under these circumstances there is no responsible person in the state. The priority of the Chief Minister is Assam elections and he doesn’t have any word of consolation for the family members of martyred security personnel. We’ve not seen any Chief Minister of any such state who is so insensitive, said Dr Singh. The former Chief Minister further added that there was prior information of heavy movement of Maoists in the area, despite which force was sent without any prior preparation. UAV is present by which location of Naxal movement can be traced but unfortunately no precaution was taken, which led to this unfortunate incident.
