Ambazari Biodiversity Park which is famous among fitness freaks, bird watchers and nature lovers, will remain closed for visitors due to increasing coronavirus cases and fresh lockdown imposed in the city till further notice. The park was re-opened on April 1 for citizens after a fire incident that gutted 250 ha of forest in the Park recently. The Forest Department taking measures to avoid such fire incident in future. “We have deputed Van Majoors on watch towers with blowers and binoculars to keep surveillance in the whole area.
 
The recent fire had jumped from adjoining Nagpur University Campus and nearby residents also enter the park without permission. Keeping this in mind we also have started patrolling and installed CCTV on six towers inside the park premises,” said P R Badole, Round Officer, Ambazari Biodiversity Park. Spread over 1,854 acres, Ambazari Biodiversity Park attracts hundreds of birds species throughout the year. It is a paradise for bird-watchers and also for the nature-lovers. In recent time, the park is became famous among morning walkers too. The park has canteen for visitors which remained open from 6 am to 6 pm daily.
 
There are 65 bicycles are available for visitors who can experience the nature trail on 4 km track inside the park. Apart from planting 40,000 trees and conserving existing 10,000, Forest Department has constructed 17 machans to let people have a panoraming view of the park and Ambazari lake. Also, eight bird heights have been developed for bird watchers and photographers. Binoculars will be provided for bird watching. Basic amenities like toilets, seating arrangements, canteen, sheds, drinking water will also be provided.
