Peak summer season has started in city and water crisis is adding on to the problem of residents as supply remained affected on third consecutive day .Even though the Kolar gravity main line has been rectified after about 41 hours, water supply remained affected on half of the city . About 60 percent of the city could not get water for last two days and while on Wednesday morning some areas got water but with very low pressure. They were seen collecting water from private water resources.

The pipeline was broken at one o'clock on April 4 near Ratapani which could only be rectified on April 6 evening . The work of filling the tanks at night went on, but the pressure was not as much as required. Due to this, proper supply of water could not be done in most of the city in the morning. Water supply remained affected on zones number six, seven and nine, Char Imli, Kolar, Shahpura, Tulsi Nagar, New Market, MP Nagar, Bittan Market, 10 Number Market, Arera Colony, Habibganj, Gulmohar, Railway Colony , Jawahar Chowk, Nehru Nagar, TT Nagar, Kotra Sultanabad, Budhwara, Nishatpura, Nadra Bus Stand, 1100 Quarters, Panchsheel Nagar, etc.. In some areas, water was delivered on Wednesday morning, but the pressure was low.

Water is supplied from Kolar line to 60 percent of the city, but due to leakage in the line for the last few months, the residents have to bother for drinking water. The said Kolar pipe line is about 30 years old. Due to this, excessive pressure leads to leakage. Although a new Kolar gravity line is being laid at a cost of about 150 crores, its work has been going on and still it is incomplete. If this work is done, then water will come from the new line itself and the problem of leakage will also be resolved , said BMC water works officials.
