In a grisly incident, the head of a youth got severed when the SUV he was travelling in got brushed against a tree near Fetri on Kalmeshwar Road, police said. Two persons were killed in the accident and two others were injured seriously on Sunday night. Police Inspector Asif Raza Sheikh informed ‘The Hitavada’ that Akash Sonawne (24), a resident of Surendragadh, Nagpur, was driving the Mahindra Xylo SUV (MH-12/HL-7010) while his friends Dinesh Kirnake (30), Ashish Dhurwe (25) and Pawan Kirnake (38), all residents of Makardhokda, were co-passengers in the SUV.

The youths might have gone for dinner somewhere as the police found a packet of Biryani in the car, PI Sheikh said. The accident occurred at around 7 pm when the SUV was passing through Fetri village. After crossing Bezonbagh farmhouse, driver Akash lost control over the vehicle and rammed the SUV into a tree. The front tyre of the vehicle burst and due to this, the SUV moved ahead and brushed against the tree. Head of Dinesh Kirnake got severed in the accident and found at the distance of 15 feets from the car. PI Sheikh said that Kirnake was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle. After the accident, he might have tried to jump off from the vehicle.

When the SUV was brushing against another tree, his head got severed, PI Sheikh said. Akash, Dinesh and Pawan were also seriously injured in the accident. The Kalmeshwar police rushed the profusely bleeding youths to Mayo hospital in Nagpur where Ashish breathed his last. Condition of Akash and Pawan is reportedly critical. SDPO Pravin Munde and police staff including Naresh Narnawre and Ravi Mohod also visited the spot. An offence under provisions of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act was registered by Kalmeshwar police.
