To boost the inoculation of those between 18 and 44 years, the work of Covid-19 vaccination programme will be done at 38 centres from Wednesday. The vaccination drive against Covid-19 continued at 22 centres for 18-44 years beneficiaries, all these centres are the same where vaccination was done on Saturday. On Tuesday, the Covid-19 vaccination will halt and from Wednesday, people from 18 to 44 years will be vaccinated at 38 centres in the city. Every centre will vaccinate with 100 beneficiaries in a day. In this way, a total of 3800 people are targeted to be vaccinated in a day. Notably, beneficiaries of 18 to 44 years of age are being vaccinated only after they book a slot online on the CoWin portal. Around 96 per cent of the footfall of this age group was registered on Monday. Until now, only Covaxin was being given to people of this age group, but from May 12, 16 new centres will be offering Covishield vaccine.
 
For this, the state capital has received 10,000 doses of Covishield from Serum Institute. People above 44 years are being vaccinated at 47 centres in Bhopal, of these, Covishield vaccine will be administered at 31 centres and the Covaxin will be given at rest of the centres. Vaccination drive hit by serious shortage The vaccine is being administered for free by the Government of India to the people above 44 years of age for both first and second doses. The vaccination centres in the State capital are not being expanded for people above 44 years of age due to unavailability of vaccines. There is a need of around 90 centres but owing to the shortage of centres, long queues of elderly people is seen. The health department officials have said that 22,000 doses of Covishield for people above 44 years have been received for Bhopal.
