With continued efforts, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is conducting a massive drain cleaning drive in the city. On Tuesday, BMC workers went on to clean several drains of the city. In the cleaning works workers are being helped by heavy machines as well. BMC does this practice every year under pre-monsoon preparedness drive. The cleaning work de-silts choked drains before arrival of monsoon. Notably, big drains get cleaned with the help of Poclian machine and JCB whereas small drains are getting unblocked with the help of JCB only. The de-siltation if not done creates fuss to the residents of low lying areas

. Especially when it rains heavily. The water outpours and seeps into their houses often which is one big reason behind this drive getting conducted by BMC every year. With Covid-19 crisis other works are on the back burner for now but as monsoon is approaching Bhopal Municipal Corporation conducts this de-silting drive on a regular basis. On Tuesday the drains which got cleaned include big and small drains of Abbas Nagar, Paras Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Biragarh, Drain near Central Library, Revera Town, Dipo Square, Trilanga, Shahpura, Janta Quarter, Shivoy Complex, Drain near Ward-79 Vishramghat. The waste collected during the cleaning process was also removed with the help of labourers. BMC is conducting the clearing work in a phased manner under the supervision of dedicated authorities.
