A total of 12,119 doses of vaccine were administered in the State capital on Wednesday. Expanding the inoculation sites for beneficiaries of 18-44 years, 49 sessions were held with a capacity of 100 doses each. In this way, a target was set to inoculate 4,900 people (18-44 years) on Wednesday. Covishield vaccine was administered at 16 centres while Covaxin shots were given at the remaining centres.
 
Apart from this, 52 centres were setup for immunisation of beneficiaries aged 45 years. Norms violated at inoculation centres Social distancing norms were thrown to the wind at vaccination centres in the city as thousands of unregistered beneficiaries rushed to get shots on Wednesday. So far, a total of 5,96,112 vaccine doses have been administered in the State capital including 4,64,779 first doses and 1,31,333 second doses.
 
Covishield beneficiaries sent back from centre Many beneficiaries of Covishield vaccine, who had received an early confirmation SMS for second dose, had to return home from the centre. State Immunisation Officer Dr Santosh Sukla said that the Government of India has issued orders to administer second dose of Covishield vaccine after 42 days of first dose is administered. “So, if someone receives an SMS after 28 days, then ignore it,” added Dr Shukla.
