THE district administration led by Collector Bhim Singh is leaving no stone unturned to win battle against the global pandemic. Several efforts are being made in this direction. In this sequence, a total of 50 BiPAP machines have been arranged for treatment of the Covid patients. These machines have been supplied from Hyderabad with initiative of Collector Bhim Singh. These will be provided to Covid Care Centers at various locations. The district administration is continuously making efforts for arranging resources for treatment of Covid patients.

Apart from increasing oxygen beds, necessary machineries are also being arranged. Collector Bhim Singh had been constantly trying for supply of machines and which have now reached district. Collector said that these machines will be given to Medical College Hospital and KIT in Raigarh besides Covid Care Centers in Kharsia, Sarangarh, Dharamjaigarh and Lailunga blocks. Treatment of serious Covid patients will be easier with the help of these machines that will be used as ventilators only for patients whose lungs are not able to inhale sufficient oxygen. The machines will be in addition to medical facilities available for this deadly virus. The machines are useful for patients who cannot inhale oxygen themselves and are so weak that they cannot breathe or their lungs are not working properly.

The machine pushes oxygen inside the lungs with high pressure, so that a patient who is not able to breathe also gets oxygen. It expands windpipe which causes less pressure on the lungs and patient feels relieved. The machine manages the patient’s breathing rhythm, thus maintains supply of required amount of oxygen. The machine has proved to be very useful in treatment of severe corona patients. This machine works on two air pressure settings. It creates more air pressure when the patient breathes. This is termed as Inspiratory Positive Airway Pressure (IPAP) in medical terms. Under this process, oxygen enters the lungs rapidly and easily. In the second setting, when the patient exhales, this machine reduces the air pressure. This is called expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP) in medical terms.
