Jayant Mallaiya meets V D
After getting show cause notices some days back in wake of party’s defeat in recently held by-election of Damoh Assembly seat, former Finance Minister Jayant Mallaiya met BJP State President V D Sharma at his residence in State capital on Friday.

Jayant Mallaiya gave explanation to Sharma and told the possible reasons of party’s defeat in Damoh assembly by-election. Meeting between both leaders lasted for fifteen minutes.

When contacted by ‘The Hitavada’, Jayant Mallaiya told that meeting with BJP State President Sharma was cordial and whatever explanation he needed to give, he had given to him. He told that during discussion, he pointed out reasons for party candidate Rahul Singh’s defeat in Damoh by-election.

“There was a huge public resentment against party candidate and he lost every booth. Had party not worked in co-ordinated manner then defeat margin could have been wider,” he told. When asked that corridors of power are abuzz with news that he is planning to meet top party leadership in New Delhi. Mallaiya told that owing to corona, travelling is not possible. However, he said that he is planning to meet party leadership. During meeting with BJP State President, he also told he received calls from many leaders who described show cause notice to him as unfortunate. Notably, after BJP chief Sharma issued show cause notice to him, former law minister Kusum Mahdale and former minister Ajay Vishnoi have openly expressed their displeasure. After defeat, BJP candidate Rahul Singh blamed Jayant Mallaiya for his defeat. Even Home Minister Narottam Mishra had told in veiled manner that party lost Damoh Assembly by-elections due to some ‘Jaichands’ (traitors).
