Dr Agrawal urges not to over stress while exercising

CITY’S noted Sports and Orthopaedic Physiotherapist Dr Kevin Agrawal urged fitness freaks not to over stress while exercising and to avoid trying new fancy exercises. Dr Agrawal was speaking during a webinar ‘Keeping Fit At Home In This Pandemic’ organised by Nagpur Runners And Riders (NRR) recently. Around 100 fitness enthusiasts from across the country attended the seminar which went on for nearly two hours. Dr Kevin spoke about different forms of exercises and simple tips on home exercises starting with joint mobility exercises and stretching, body weight exercises functional training, HIIT Training, circuit training.
 
Dr Agrawal who is also Director, Dr Kevin’s Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic talked about how to prevention of injuries. “One must not over stress while exercising and to should avoid trying new fancy exercises. One should perform exercises according to individual’s strength and requirements. One should also have proper nutrition, hydration and good sleep,” Dr Agrawal said adding, “One should decide how much to exercise/run/cycle. One should listen to one’s body and not over train. On must focus on whole body as one unit while training, don’t ignore any body part while training.” On the confusion of applying ice or heat if one has pain or injury, Dr Agrawal said, “ For Acute injuries and pain one must apply ice and for chronic injuries/pain/muscle spasm heat therapy must be used.”
 
Dr Agrawal concluded the session by giving tips on focusing on strength training to prevent muscle loss and to improve strength and performance. Sports specific/goal specific training. He also shared some tips on protein intake and nutrition. The participants appreciated the tips given by Dr Agrawal. Many doubts and misconceptions of the participants were cleared during the question-answer session. Founders of NRR Mitesh Rambhia and Ashish Agrawal were convenors of the webinar and worked hard to make it a grand success.
