A male patient died after falling off the ramp at Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) on Saturday morning. The incident sent shockwaves across the hospital employees. A large number of onlookers thronged the spot after the incident. The deceased was identified as Tulshiram Pandurang Bangade (67), a resident of Plot No. 118/A, Siraspeth Chowk, Umred, Nagpur. According to police, Bangade was suffering from an urological illness for the last one-and-a-half years. Earlier, he was admitted to the hospital. On Saturday morning, he came to the hospital as doctors were to perform a surgery on him. Prima facie, he walked a little over up to second floor on the ramp before falling off it. He sustained multiple injuries.

Doctors rushed him to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he breathed his last. According to police, Bangade sustained grievous head injuries after falling off the ramp. Police Inspector Vinod Choudhary of Ajni police rushed to the spot and inspected the spot. Senior doctors of GMCH and SSH also visited the spot. Bangade was identified on the basis of an OPD card recovered from his pocket.

The police immediately informed his son about the incident. However, there was a discussion among the hospital staff that the man fell from the fourth floor of the building. As there are no CCTV cameras on the ramp, it is difficult for the police to establish from where he fell. “We are investigating the case on suicide and accidental death angles,” said a police officer. A case of accidental death was registered by Ajni police and started investigations.
