‘Black fungus should be tested, treated in initial stage’

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that coronavirus cases are decreasing continuously in State. New Corona cases in State have come down by 6000 while weekly positivity rate in 20 districts has come down by 10 per cent. He instructed that ‘Mucormycosis’ or Black Fungus disease should be tested and treated at early stage in state. Necessary equipment ‘Nasoendoscope', injections and medicines should be made available for this. It should be given the shape of a mass movement. Black fungus should be checked by setting up camps and every patient should be treated. In this, services of private ENT specialists should also be availed.
 
Disease should be diagnosed at initial level and treatment should be started immediately. He was holding a discussion with the members of Corona Control Core Group through video conferencing from his residence on Monday and reviewing the condition and arrangements of Corona in districts of state. Members of Core group, ministers, officers, ministers in charge of districts and officers were present in the meeting.
 
A special presentation on black fungus disease was given by ENT Specialist Dr S P Dubey in meeting. It was informed that disease reaches from nose to eye and from eye to brain. If it is stopped at nose level, then it does not progress further. Dr Dubey advised that ‘Nasoendoscopy’ of Post Covid patients should be conducted. If black fungus is found, they should be operated immediately and ‘Amphotericin B’ is injected, this disease will be cured completely. The price of ‘Amphotericin B’ injection ranges between Rs 5000 to Rs 7000.
