Nagpur theatre artist Sanchi Jiwane won ‘Best Actress’ award at prestigious 11th Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2021 on Friday. Sanchi bagged this award for her performance in her upcoming Marathi film ‘Paidagir’ which is going to be released in cinema halls after lockdown. “This award is a very big and prestigious achievement for a theatre artist like me. It is a real moral booster amid this pandemic situation,” Sanchi said while speaking to The Hitavada. Sanchi bagged this award for her stupendous performance in the movie.

The movie ‘Paidagir’ also bagged the ‘Best Educational Movie’ award in other Film Festivals. The movie was nominated for the award among 310 other movies. Sanchi, who is an Assistant Professor in VMV College, Nagpur, started exploring her passion in theatres at the age of 9 years. In last 25 years, she has acted in two films and numerous stage plays at national level. But, Sanchi believes that her third film ‘Paidagir’ which is an educational awareness movie, has inspired her the most. “The nomination of the film in 11th Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is itself a big achievement for the whole team.

I am eagerly waiting for release of the movie in cinema halls after lockdown. The appreciation which we will get from our viewers after its release will be the bigger achievement for me than this award,” said Sanchi. The city artists thanked and shared the achievement with her parents, friends, producer, director, co-artists and whole team of ‘Paidagir’. “It is a complete team work. I like to thank my co-artists like Gaurav Ambhare, Jai Bhagat, Shweta Waghmare, Harish Gawai, Shrikant Borkar, Sarnath Ramteke, Nilkanth Kulsunge and Sanjay Jiwane for this award,” she added.
