Amidst the second wave of devastating COVID-19, Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi on Tuesday interacted with battalion commandants and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of training schools to enquire about the well-being of security personnel and their family members. On the occasion, the Police Chief collected detailed information about the health of 23,000 personnel.

While interacting with the Commandants and SPs, DGP Awasthi directed officials to ensure that the security personnel comply with all the safety protocol during duty to prevent the spread of deadly infection. Besides, the police chief also instructed the officials to pay attention towards the safety of security personnel as well as their family members. DGP Awasthi directed the officials to remain in contact with the family members of security personnel and meet their needs at earliest as troopers stay here in the company far from their family. Such gestures will boost the morale of police personnel in the force, said DGP Awasthi. In this time of crisis, keep special attention towards humanitarian approach, the police chief told the commandants and SPs.

To arrest the spread of contagious disease, DGP Awasthi has ordered the officials to set up an isolation centre in all the battalions so that it could be utilized for the personnel returning to leave/holiday and come in contact with COVID-19 positive patients. Meanwhile, commandants informed the police chief that a barrack in the battalion has been developed as an isolation center wherein personnel with infection’s symptoms are being tested. Moreover, almost all the personnel in battalions have taken a second dose of the vaccine which significantly reduced the complication of infection. Maximum personnel have recovered from the infection in home isolation, officials informed the DGP. Taking stock of the inoculation status in separate battalions and police training schools, DGP Awasthi instructed the officials to motivate personnel for vaccination.
