Vaccination for 18+ beneficiaries began in Madhya Pradesh, amid a vaccine crunch on Wednesday, while permitting only 100 doses to registered beneficiaries at a centre each in all district headquarters. Besides, vaccine administration continued for those above 45 years of age. State Immunisation Officer Dr Santosh Shukla said that vaccination centre’s for 18+ beneficiaries were made at a higher secondary school in all district headquarters. The officer also said that the vaccine was administered to 5,200 persons (18-44 years of age) at 52 centres in each district. On Thursday, also same number of vaccination sessions will be held, Dr Shukla added.
 
He also said that 208 sessions will be held every day on May 8 and 10 in the State so, there will be four centres in each district. Dr Shukla also said that, on May 12, 13 and 15, vaccination will be done at 320 centres in the State each day, adding that, by May 15, the target will be to vaccinate 1.48 lakh people between 18 and 44 years. All persons born before May 1, 2003, are eligible for vaccination and there will be no on-site registration for vaccination for people between 18 and 44 years, he said.
 
It will be mandatory for such people to register themselves through CoWin portal and Aarogya Setu application. Vaccination sessions will be organised at non-COVID treatment centres like government schools, offices as while following COVID-19 protocols. Notably, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had given instructions to start vaccination program of people between the age of 18 and 44 years and for this, orders of purchase of 4.76 crore Covishield and 52.25 lakh doses of Covaxin have been given.
