BHILAI,

Coming as a relief to senior citizens, the Bhilai Municipal Corporation has launched a drive-in vaccination facility for any individual who is above the age of 45 inside the parking of Surya mall in Junwani. Any individual of the given age group can drive into the parking lot between 10 am to 5 pm and get vaccinated without any appointment. To get vaccinated you do not need to register yourself online. The entire process has been made quite simple, keeping in mind the convenience of the people. With two vaccinators, one female and one male available inside the camp, it will allow multiple people to get vaccinated even in the same car.

This decision of Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner was taken on brief notice to make arrangements to accommodate people who could not visit the vaccination center owing to their physical condition, and for people who have co-morbidities and are at high risk of infection. This vaccination facility promises minimal physical contact. Speaking to The Hitavada the Public Relation Officer of Bhilai Municipal Corporation P C Sarva said, “The entire process has been made very smooth from registration at the entry gate to exit after the mandatory 30 minutes medical observation period while never having to step foot out of the car”.

He also mentioned how they have received positive feedback from the public. Around 120 people were vaccinated as of noon on the first day. The campaign began in the presence of BMC Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi and the District Collector Dr Sarveshwar N Bhure. They also interacted with the people to take their feedback and gave them roses to motivate them. The entire process has been made very efficient by using a token system. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in a tweet while praising the drive said, “This campaign is becoming very useful for the elderly due to facilitating rest with social distancing”.
