“WARDHA’S Genetic Life Science is the first company in the country to get Government of India’s permission in the shortest possible time to produce much-needed Remdesivir. Remdesivir’s production by Genetic Life Science will help Maharashtra in checking its blackmarketting and poor people will be able to get it at government rates,” said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari as the company started production of the injection on Thursday. MP Ramdas Tadas, District Collector Prerna Deshbratar, Dr Mahendra Kshirsagar, Civil Chief Atul Tarale and others were present on the occasion. The production has been started at Genetic Life Science at MIDC, Sewagram.

It will produce 30,000 vials per day. The company got quick permission for production of Remdesivir, thanks to Gadkari. Expressing satisfaction at that start of production, Gadkari said he was pleased to see production with his own eyes. Its distribution will be held under the watch of District Collector, the Minister informed adding that all districts of Vidarbha, including Nagpur, will get it first after which it will be provided to rest of Maharashtra and then to other parts of the country.

Though there is no insistence that Wardha should benefit the most, but it will definitely get priority, Gadkari stated. Talking of the massive efforts put in for starting producion in Wardha, Gadkari said he worked with extreme determination and got help from officers at national and state-level. He also mentioned help from Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and personal assistant Mandlekar for getting the required permission. Hetro, a Hyderabad-based Multinational Company helped Genetic Life Science with equipments needed, he informed.
