Reacting to the order issued by the High Court of Chhattisgarh on Friday, Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) State President Amit Jogi said that the High Court dismissed the Chhattisgarh Government’s decision to stop the vaccination as wrong and unfair and said,“the government has to ensure that a maximum number of people are vaccinated every minute to protect the lives of the people.” The Court also issued oral instructions to Government to immediately start vaccinating people from all three economic classes of Antyodaya, BPL and APL in equal ratio till such time that State Government files its detailed policy report on vaccination drive. JCC(J) President Amit Jogi termed the decision as a ‘victory of justice’ and hoped that State Government make sincere efforts to change its policy from #VaccineForNone to #VaccineForAll.

The State Government has constituted a high-level committee of Secretaries headed by Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain after the order of the High Court.

In a communiqué, State Government informed that the High Court of Chhattisgarh, while hearing further on suo moto Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Friday, justified State Government’s concern towards the poor and directed the committee constituted under Chief Secretary to submit its recommendation at the earliest, thereafter, the next hearing will be held. In compliance of the High Court’s order, State Government has decided to establish separate vaccination centres for Antyodaya, BPL and APL under Phase-3 inoculation drive. In the vaccination centres fixed for Antyodaya and BPL category people, the beneficiaries should submit themselves for vaccination along with ID/documents and they will have to show their ration cards as well. In the centres for APL category beneficiaries, people will have to bring IDs as recommended by the Central Government like Aadhaar, PAN card and any other valid documents but they’ll not have to produce ration cards. Since State Government has received 1.5 lakh vaccine doses as of now for carrying out inoculation drive under Phase-3, the drive will continue till the vaccines are exhausted and will start again when vaccine doses will be available. Accordingly, notices will be displayed in vaccination centers.
