NEW DELHI :

TRINAMOOL Congress (TMC) leader Biman Bandopadhyay on Saturday was elected as Speaker of West Bengal Legislative Assembly for the third time. The first-ever trial of strength in the legislature, however, took place without any contest as all the 77 Bharatiya Janata Party Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) abstained from attendance, in line with the earlier announcement of party State President Dilip Ghosh to that effect, giving an idea of the shape of politics to come. As a result, Biman Bandopadhyay got the full Trinamool Congress vote.
