A GOOD show was expected from her and Indian shuttler Malvika Bansod made a perfect start to her campaign at the RSL Lithuanian International Badminton tournament on Friday.
The four-day Future Series tournament, organised by the Lithuanian Badminton Federation is being held in Kaunas, Lithuania.
In her opening encounter, as expected, Nagpur’s Malvika made light work of local girl Vilte Paulauskaite winning easy two games to move into the second round.
Southpaw Malvika cruised to 21-6 taking the first game and then rounded it off with a 21-10 victory in the second. The match lasted only 19 minutes.
In the first game, third seed Malvika took 11 consecutive points while in the second she took seven straight points to dominate the entire match.
In the prequarter-finals, she will take on Israel’s Heli Neiman who beat Finland’s Hanna Karkaus 21-1121-17.
In the draw of 32, Malvika is playing in bottom half of the draw. City’s talented shuttler impressed with her show in Austria by reaching the quarter-finals. The world No 128 missed the semi-final last fortnight after going down to top seed and eventual champion Clara Azurmendi of Spain.
