For months now, people have been facing inconvenience and traffic jams due to tardy progress of road and flyover construction at Pardi. On Friday, none other than Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, also faced the same ordeal. Stuck in traffic jam, he got out of his official car and gave a piece of mind to the officers and contractor concerned.
 
On Friday, Gadkari was scheduled to dedicate to public the oxygen plant at Shri Bhavani Hospital, Pardi. Accordingly, he started for the hospital in his official car. However, in Pardi area, his car got stuck in traffic jam. The cement road was half constructed, which narrowed the motorable road width for the traffic. He got out of the car to himself see the progress of the construction work. Seeing him on road, the people interacted with him. Some people even complained to him about the tardy progress of the work and inconvenience they faced every day.
 
While taking a walk in the area, Gadkari saw some encroachment too on the roadsides. He spoke to the people and asked them not to encroach upon spaces as it reduced road width available for traffic. According to witnesses, he also spoke to officers and contractor concerned and asked them to expedite the completion of the massive project.
 
The works of road, flyover, and metro railway route are going on in Pardi area. Due to these works, road users have been facing problem of dust in summer and winter. In monsoon season, people find it difficult to negotiate their way due to narrowed road width, poor maintenance of available road width, potholes filled with rainwater, edges of road. Especially in rush hours, traffic jams add to the woes of the people. Minor accidents keep happening every day. The people have been complaining for months together about the inconvenience they face every day.
