In a major breakthrough, police have busted a gang of thieves involved in attempting theft at the ATM while they were planning for another theft. Police arrested six members of the gang and seized sharp-edged weapons and equipment used for breaking locks. The arrested accused have been identified as Shambhu Gupta (21), son of late Lalman Gupta, resident of Imlai village in Panagar, Golu alias Harendra Singh, son of Surendra Singh Rajput (21), resident of Panagar, Mohammed Hasnain Khan (20), son of Mehmood Khan of Panagar, Parmulal alias Chhotu Kewat (20), son of Rajendra Kewat of Panagar, Sachin Kewat (21), son of Chhotu Kewat of Umaria village in Panagar and Ali Abbas Khan (19), son of Umar Khan alias Allu, resident of Pathani Mohalla, Panagar. Superintendent of Police, Siddharth Bahuguna disclosed this while addressing a press conference, on Tuesday.
 
SP Bahuguna informed that Adhartal police reported two theft cases of attempted thefts at ATMs of Allahabad Bank and SBI Bank in Adhartal reported on June 7, 2021. Taking a serious note into the cases, separate police teams were constituted for apprehending the accused. Investigating the case, police team collected CCTV footage and received information about 5-6 suspected men who were sighted near Kali Mandir in a vehicle turning and planning for theft at ATM of Bank of Baroda. Acting promptly on the information, police started a search and trapped six persons and seized sharp edged weapons and equipments from them. In the interrogation, the miscreants confessed attempting theft at ATMs of Allahabad Bank and SBI Bank in Adhartal.
