Many vaccine beneficiaries in the State capital who had reached the Government-run session sites on Saturday had to return without taking their shots due to mismanagement at centres and limited availability of vaccines. Many incidents of rush and chaos at the inoculation centres came to the fore, defying the tall claims of the Government of ‘Mega Vaccination Campaign’. At Ward 55 of Baghsewaniya, there was a long queue of people. During the afternoon, a group of transgender people reached the centre and went ahead to stand first in the line. People who were waiting for their turn began protesting, which later turned into a quarrel.

Both first and second doses of Covishield were administered, while only second dose of Covaxin was administered. The vaccine doses fell short of the requirement, as on behalf of the CMHO, 150 doses were given for the first shot and 100 for the second, which were over by 1 pm. After this people had to return home disappointed, without getting vaccinated.

A total of 62,147 doses were administered at 199 vaccination centres in the State capital. 6.8 lakh jabs given: Only 6,80,601 vaccine doses were given across the State on Saturday at 3,030 inoculation centres set-up in the entire state, according to details provided by CoWin dashboard. Now, a total of 2,39,07,130 doses, including both first and second, have been administered in MP so far. The Health Department’s focus is on administering more and more second doses as to balance the gap between both doses. More than 2.01 crore shots of first dose have been given while only 37 lakh jabs of second dose have been administered.
