Congress corporator in Raipur launched a campaign against the illegal activities on Monday and exposed a man operating satta in broad daylight. However, the police claimed to be taking the action against the satta operator based on the received complaint. As per the information received, Corporator Satnam Panag, along with supporters, intercepted a satta operator at Bhatagaon area under Purani Basti police station limits at around 1:30 pm. In a video clip buzzing around several groups of media, Corporator Panag is seen exposing the satta operator taking bets from people.

 

“Police team carried out action against the satta operation following a complaint received in this connection and the corporator was present at the spot at the time of entire action,” said Purani Basti City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Manoj Dhruv. According to the information received, a 23-year-old man identified as Hemant Thakur alias Rahul, a resident of Kailashpuri under Purani Basti police station, was arrested for allegedly operating satta and collecting money from people. During the raid, police have recovered Rs 940 cash, satta details and other articles from the possession of Thakur. The accused was booked under relevant Section of Gambling Act, added police sources.
