After the vaccination of over 4,800 beneficiaries in Raipur district, vaccines are now out of stock and most of the centre’s will remain closed from Tuesday onwards. State Vaccination Officer Dr Ashish Verma informed that through 25 vaccination centres first and second dose of vaccines were administered on Monday. First and second doses of Covaxin were administered to over 3,530 beneficiaries in 18-44 categories. Over 1,300 Covishield vaccines were administered as second doses in 18 and above categories.

Out of 25 sessions 21 centres are in Urban Raipur, Abhanpur and Dharsiwa. Dr Ashish Verma further informed that all the vaccines made available to State were distributed to different districts. Due to awareness and enthusiasm among young people towards vaccination, large numbers of beneficiaries came for the vaccination at different centres. The State Government also allowed the vaccination to lactating mothers and pregnant ladies due to which demand for the vaccine has increased. The Health Department is not in a position to continue vaccination as the stock is nearly finished in Raipur district. Those districts in the state having the stock will continue the vaccination till the stock lasts. So far only two pregnant ladies have taken vaccines as per information.

Dr Subhash Mishra, Director of State Epidemic Control informed that so far total 1,06,21,860 vaccines have been supplied to the state since the outbreak of COVID-19. Out of which 11,86,790 were Covaxin and 94,35,070 were Covishield. At present about 54240 doses are available in the state, which are in different districts. However, depending on the availability of stock vaccination will be done in vaccination centres, till sufficient quantities of vaccine arrives.
