Bus hits truck after mentally-ill man pelts stone at moving heavy vehicle

Seven persons, including bus driver and conductor, injured seriously in the accident 
 
Pelting a stone at a moving truck by a mentally-ill man resulted in a major road accident on Bhandara road on Wednesday. Seven persons travelling in the bus were injured in the accident, Mauda police officials said. Among the injured persons were bus driver Ravindra Vikram Jangde (55), a resident of Sakoli town of Bhandara district, and Madhuri Prashant Kathane (30), a resident of Murmadi village in Lakhani tehsil of Bhandara district. Sr. Police Inspector Hemantkumar Kharabe of Mauda Police Station informed that the truck and bus were heading towards Bhandara from Nagpur. The truck driver suddenly applied brakes after a mentally-ill man pelted a stone at the vehicle. The bus was also moving with great speed behind the truck.
 
As the truck’s speed suddenly dropped, the bus driver also applied brakes to avoid a collision. However, the right side of the bus hit the truck from rear and later went-off the road, PI Kharabe said. Many passengers of the bus were injured in the accident while the mentally-ill managed to flee the spot after the accident. PI Kharabe and his team reached the spot and rushed the injured persons to a hospital. Legs of the driver and conductor got fractured in the accident. Five bus passengers also were injured. The injured passengers are identified as Charan Ghanshyam Meshram (24), a resident of Deori; Rajkumar Premlal Jambhulkar (27), a resident of Vihirgaon; Sharad Devidas Lilhare (67), a resident of Mauda; Amol Kathan (26), a resident of Vadoda, tehsil - Kamptee and Shivshankar Kisan Kathore (38), a resident of Pipari, Bhandra. The police have registered a case under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act. Further investigation is on.
