Police intensify manhunt

Raipur Police have intensified the manhunt for suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Gurjinder Pal Singh in connection with the sedition case registered against him. “Based on the technical analysis of several numbers, police teams will be dispatched outside,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Yadav.

Probing team has collected the handwriting sample of IPS Singh and investigation is under way, added the SSP. Notably, a police team from Raipur’s Kotwali Police has recently visited the residence of the missing IPS officer for reconstruction events regarding recovery of documents by State Economic Offence Investigation and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB).

It may be recalled that based on the documents recovered from IPS Singh and his associate Mani Bhushan from his residence during the raid, Raipur’s Kotwali Police booked the ADGP rank officer under Sections 124-A (sedition) and 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The documents recovered by the State Economic Offence Investigation and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB) during the raids revealed that Singh was allegedly involved in promoting enmity and hatching a conspiracy against the established government and public representatives.

During the three-daylong search carried out at 15 locations of IPS Singh, the ADGP rank officer who was posted as Director of state police academy, SEOIACB claimed to have unearthed properties and investments to the tune of around Rs 10 crore along with recovery of several incriminating documents.
