Revenue and Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput reached Ganjbasoda in Vidisha district and took stock of situation and rescue operation on Friday. He spoke to officers involved in rescue operation. He was informed that administration team is working in prompt manner in rescue work.
 
He told that incident wherein many people fall into the well is unfortunate and heart-rending.
NDRF and SDRF teams are carrying out rescue operation. Officers are present on the spot. He paid tribute to those who died in the mishap. He told that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself is monitoring the rescue operation. CM has announced to give financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to families of deceased and Rs 50,000 to every injured.
In the meantime, local people have their own tale to narrate. They have told mediapersons that well was in dilapidated state and there was no water pipeline supply arrangement in concerned village.
 
Even complaints were made to Sarpanch and local administration that well is in dilapidated state and needs maintenance but to no avail.
 
Local villagers also said that how one incident lead to major accident. Initially, a teenager boy had fallen inside the well. To save him, four to five persons jumped into the well. To see the rescue work, more than 40 people were standing on the grid which broke due to heavy pressure. More than twenty people fell inside the well. To rescue the newly trapped people inside the well, another rescue operation was carried out and during this process, one tractor trolley also fell inside the well as boundary of well caved in. People remained glued to their television screens to see the rescue operation and to keep themselves updated about the mishap. It is being said that eleven bodies were fished out in the day.
