It’s not only the rising rates of petrol and diesel that are giving nightmares to common people. The rates of vegetables have also increased and now common people are finding tough in managing the kitchen expenditure. The coronavirus period has brought many problems for the common people. First of all, their earnings were reduced and secondly rates of petrol and diesel are on an ever time high. Moreover, vegetables rates are also swollen. Many poor people and common people have started to purchase vegetables in less manner to manage the budget.

The rate of tomato is Rs 40 per kg. Likewise Lady finger, Bottle Gourd, Sponge Gourd are also being sold between Rs 40 per kg to Rs 50 per kg. The rates of green leaf vegetables such as Palak have also increased. Onion, which is an essential ingredient of cuisine, has also increased. Good quality of onion is being sold at Rs 60 per kg. The inferior quality onion is being sold at Rs 40 per kg. Gradually, vegetables are also moving away from the reach of poor and marginalised class people. Common man is founding himself in tough situation in managing the kitchen budget in the wake of increased prices of vegetables. Moreover, edible oil has also become a costly affair.

To manage the kitchen budget, common people have started to buy vegetables in lesser quantity. Normally in monsoon season, green vegetables become cheap but this time, situation is reverse. Most probably, one of the reasons is this that scanty rainfall has reduced the production of green vegetables.
