Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, various academies associated with the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh have decided to telecast the cultural series ‘Gamak’ on social media platforms, where online performances of cultural artists belonging to disparate cultural disciplines are being presented. Sunday’s first performance began with the Bagheli musical renditions, voiced by Pratima Shah and team. Several bagheli songs were presented under which the first one was the Kajri song ‘Hare rama chaai ghata’, followed by Suhaag song ‘Laali Laali chudiyaan’, the Sauhar song ‘Angana mein thaadi nanadiya’, the wedding songs “Hamri janakpuri sasuraar” and ‘Raja Dashrath’ and the performance was winded up with the Kajri song ‘Dhani ho khole na’. This was followed by the performance of Chain Singh Shyam and team who delivered it on the Gond form of Tribal singing and dance. Beginning with Shiv Vandana, the performance turned soulful with the presentation of Karma and Saila Songs, the traditional tribal songs of the Gond community. The team further delivered a sprightly Karma and Saila dance performance after concluding the musical adaptations. Maya Verma and team from Ujjain will present Malwi style of singing, followed by ‘Aalha’ style of singing by Sanjay Kumar Sahu and team. The performances will be presented by Directorate of Culture and will also go live on official Facebook page and YouTube channel of department.
