This project is being developed in an area of 885 acres in the vacant mines of Nandini that will be completely ready in 3 years. This project is being prepared at a cost of about Rs 3 crore. For this, amount has been taken from DMF and other items on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for environmental protection.

This project will present an example as to how the useless mine area can be converted into a great example of Natural Habitat. With the construction of this project, the nature of Nandini region will be very rich. It is noteworthy that there are already many teak and gooseberry trees in Nandini’s forest spread over an area of 17 km. Now preparations have been made to plant another 80,000 saplings in the vacant space. For this, amount has also been approved from DMF. In this regard in the recent past Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure inspected the area. Giving details of the project in detail, DFO Dhammasil Ganveer said that after planting 80,000 saplings, this area will be fully developed as a forest in 3 years. Due to the plantation of diverse species of plants here, the natural environment here will be very rich. Ganveer said that trees like Peepal, Banyan would be planted here, which have a very long life, as well as medicinal trees like Harra, Behada, Mahuva would also be planted. Ganveer informed that the entire project has been developed in such a way that it can become ideal habitat for birds and can be developed as a bird park.

There is a huge wetland where Whistling Ducks, Open Bill Starks etc. have already been targeted. Along with this, special arrangements will also be made to roam in this man-made forest. Necessary action plan is being prepared for this also. Plantation of Sal plants will also take place in the man-made forest. Prior to this, till now the concentration of Sal plants has been in Bastar and Surguja region only. This type of experiment will be done in the field for the first time. Collector said that the entire project will prove to be very important from the point of view of promoting natural habitat and this project will indicate how work can be done in the field of ecological restoration or re-conservation of environment.
