A team of 12 IAS officers from Rajasthan was on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh to study State Government’s Godhan Nyay Yojana, Gothan Yojana and Gobar-Dhan (Cow Dung) Yojana being run under the ambitious ‘Narwa, Garwa, Ghurwa and Badi’ Scheme. These schemes are aimed at boosting the rural economy of the state. The team of IAS officers from Rajasthan met with the senior administrative officials of Chhattisgarh Agriculture Department and visited villages of Dhamtari and Durg districts. The team interacted with the members of Women Self-Help Groups, Gothan Samitis and villagers to gain knowledge on the schemes and their benefits.
 
The villagers told the IAS team of Rajasthan that these schemes are proving a boon for strengthening their economy. The team of IAS Officers from Rajasthan, include Panchayat Secretary Manju Rajpal, Swachh Bharat Mission Director Vishwamohan Sharma, District Panchayats’ CEOs Dr Anjali Rajoriya, Indrajeet Yadav, Puja Kumari Parth, Jasmine Singh Sandhu, Nidhi B T, Shweta Chouhan, Gaurav Saini, Dr Soumya Jha, SBM Grameen In-charge Parag Choudhary and State Nodal Officer, Govardhan Project, Vijay Kumar Sharma. Earlier, Commissioner, Agriculture Produce, Dr M Geetha, briefed the team of IAS Officers from Rajasthan about the schemes of Chhattisgarh government at Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur. Later, the team visited different villages of the aforementioned districts. The team was accompanied by Agriculture Joint Director R L Khare and Rajesh Rathore, Patan Janpad Panchayat CEO Manish Sahu, State Advisor Dr Rupesh Rathore and Purushottam Panda, Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) Girish Mathure.
 
The team reached Gokuldham Gothan at Bhatgaon village of Dhamtari district and gathered detailed information about the process of production of vermicompost and supercompost, filtering and packing and others under Chhattisgarh’s ambitious Godhan Nyay Yojana. During the daylong stay in the district, the panel studied how lemongrass was being cultivated by Jai Maa Bhavani Self Help Group in Saptarishi Herbal Vatika besides learning about the process of oil distillation and cultivation of Aloe Vera and marigold. The SHG women informed the team of officers about the whole process related to the sale of products in the market including use of dung and other organic manures for land leveling, bed construction, plantation and others. Along with this, the team also got to know about Chhattisgarhi cuisine being prepared in ‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ operated by Sharda Self Help Group. The team learned in detail about the innovations being done for women’s livelihood and their income augmentation. Zila Panchayat CEO Priyanka Mahobia, Deputy Director Agriculture GS Kaushal, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr M S Baghel, Assistant Director Horticulture D S Kushwaha and other officials were also present.
