As the drain cleaning campaign continues in the State Capital, Municipal Commissioner KVS Chaudhary along with other officials of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) inspected cleanliness of ponds, drains and public restrooms in several areas of the city on Monday. He has directed to clean the drains of the city on regular intervals to avoid water overflow problems during heavy rains. He said that after cleaning the drains, waste excreta should be lifted immediately and the drainage water should be ensured in an uninterrupted and systematic manner. Chaudhary has also directed to maintain cleanliness in public toilets of the city, so that the citizens do not face any kind of inconvenience. Chaudhary took stock of the cleanliness arrangements of Nawab Siddiq Hassan Khan Talab, Munshi Hussain Khan Talab and Motia Talab on Monday.
 
He was apprised that the lake conservation cell and health staff of the corporation has cleaned the lakes properly, due to which the lakes are looking clean and beautiful. He has directed the staffers to take strict action against those who throw garbage in the pond. During the inspection of Sulabh Jan Suvidha Kendras located at Hamidia Hospital, Kabadkhana, Azad Market and Halalpur Bus Stand, he said that along with cleanliness in these public toilets, necessary facilities like light, fan, exhaust fan and information board should also be managed to provide convenience to the citizens.
 
He said that no shop or hand cart should be allowed to be setup within 50 meters of these public restrooms. While inspecting the Abbas nagar drain, he said that poclain machines should be used to clear the waste and cleanliness system should be made better to make the drains of the city tidier. He also instructed the staffer to continuously monitor the drains to keep the flow streamlined. Additional commissioner MP Singh and other officers of the corporation were also present during the inspection.
