Narrow escape for driver as moving truck catches fire

A truck driver had a narrow escape when the moving coal-laden truck caught fire on Nagpur-Amravati Highway in Kondhali police station area late Tuesday night. According to police, the 14-wheeler truck (GJ-09/AV-9371) laden with coal was heading towards Gujarat. The fire broke out in the cabin of the truck. Driver Prashant Kharade (34), a resident of Rajasthan, immediately jumped from the truck and saved himself. Within a few minutes, the truck was engulfed with flames. The driver alerted Kondhali police about the fire.
 
The police immediately called fire tenders from Katol Municipal Council and Solar Explosives. The fire fighters managed to douse the flames within an hour, police said. Traffic on Amravati-Nagpur lane was closed for two hours during the fire fighting operation. Kondhali PI Vishwas Fullarwar, ASI Dilip Ingle, Ravidra Bambal, Sukhdev Dhuldhule, Umesh Gurmule and others were present at the spot.
