A series of patriotic performances were witnessed in the second phase of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ cultural programme, organised at Diesel Loco shed, Itarsi on Wedenesday. West Central Railway General Manager Shailendra Kumar Singh, West Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation President Archana Singh and Divisional Railway Manager Uday Borwankar and others were also present. The programme was held ensuring all safety measures related to Covid-19 protocol. The programme began with lamp lighting, initiated by the invited guests of honour. On the occasion, talented women employees of the shed’s newly formed women-group ‘Tapsee’ delivered numerous patriotic cultural performances.
 
The programme began with a soulful welcome song voiced by Neelima Roge, Rekha Badpalli and Sneha Joshi. Performances following the welcome song witnessed an invigorating lecture by Preeti Shikhar which shed light on freedom fighters of nation and accolades gained by the country post-freedom. Thereafter, Bharti Dhoke enthralled audience with energetic dance performance on the song ‘Desh Rangeela’. Bhagyashree Khatarkar recited beautiful patriotic poem ‘Main Bharat ka Chehra’ which highlighted India’s major acquisitions. Kalpana Vishwakarma paid tributes to martyrs of the nation, who sacrificed their life safeguarding the nation through ‘Ae mere watan ke logon’ song. Firdaus shook her leg on ‘Mitti mein mil javan’ song. Rekha Badpalli lifted her voice on the golden oldie ‘Sandese aate hain’ in remembrance of valiant soldiers of the country.
 
Renu Ahirwar, Preeti Shikhar and Manju Panth depicted revolt of 1857 through a skit, underlining valour of Rani Laxmibai. Concluding performances were a poem recitation by Harshana, titled ‘Yun hi nahi mili aazadi’ and ‘Saare jahan se acha song’, vocalised by Neelima, Rekha and Sneha. General Manager and Divisional Railway Manager lauded ‘Tapsee’ group for the spectacular performances and wished them luck for the future.
