DESPITE the V-shaped recovery Indian economy is witnessing in the post-coronavirus world, some sectors are still in distress and need urgent intervention. Hospitality, tourism and aviation sectors were among the worst-hit by the pandemic and as the third wave triggered by the Delta variant threatens to rock the country, a dark future awaits these bleeding sectors. In wake of the their financial problems the Civil Aviation Ministry has taken a correct step by forming advisory groups to deliberate and resolve challenges faced by the sector. Most aviation stakeholders including major airlines are in a state of extreme distress due to the drastic fall in passenger traffic as the virus brought the entire world to a grinding halt for months together. The immediate task before the Civil Aviation Ministry is to offer viable revenue-earning solutions by forming collaboration packages between tourist places and airlines operating on those routes. On the lines of the IRCTC package tours, airlines operators can attract passengers by offering similar options. Of course, a lot depends upon the respective States’ willingness to host tourists by adhering to the health protocols.

DIRTY GAME

IT IS not possible for the common man to know why Opposition parties keep returning to childishness in politics every now and then. This time, they are trying to corner the Central Government on the issue of a statement made by Union Minister of State for Public Health Dr. Bharati Pawar that the country did not report any deaths due to shortage or non-supply of medical-grade oxygen to the COVID-19 patients. The Congress party is pushing a Motion of Breach of Privilege against the young minister for her statement. This entire effort is based on a game of terrible and deliberate disinformation and misinformation the Opposition parties are indulging in. In her statement in Parliament, Dr. Bharati Pawar made a clear statement that the information she was putting before the House was based on all the details and statistics supplied by various State Governments. Let alone what the State Governments reported to the Centre as regards medical-grade related deaths, many of them have even made statements in courts of law as well asserting that there had been no such events in their respective domains. The common people have not missed these details. They have understood the dirty Opposition game.
