A COURT in Mumbai on Friday extended till July 27 the police custody of businessman Raj Kundra in a case related to alleged creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps.

Kundra, husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, was arrested on the night of July 19 by the city police’s crime branch after being booked under relevant sections of IPC and the IT Act.

He was produced before the magistrate court at the end of his earlier remand on Friday. Police sought extension of his custody to probe the matter further.

The police had earlier told the court that Kundra was gaining financially from the illegal activity of making and selling pornographic material. The crime branch of Mumbai Police also recorded the statement of Kundra’s wife and actor Shilpa Shetty in connection with the case at her residence. They also seized a laptop from the house.

Meanwhile, Kundra challenged before the Bombay High Court his arrest in a case of alleged production and distribution of pornographic films through apps,
