After a youth was killed by four persons, one of the accused was attacked murderously for revenge by the members of the rival gang in Kaushalya Nagar in Ajni area. The gang war has shocked the city and entire police establishment. The attack was a fall out of a dispute over gambling money, police officials said. The deceased was identified as Swayam Satyaprakash Nagarale (24), a resident of Plot No. 314 (A), Kaushalya Nagar while the injured is - Shaktiman alias Shivam Gurudev (24). He was put on the ventilator support at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) as his condition is reportedly critical.

 

According to police, accused Nishant Arvind Ghodeswar (22) was arrested and two juveniles were detained by the police so far. Sources said that Abhijeet alias Abu Ghodeswar and Birju have surrendered before the police while Akshay, Suresh Matarya and Satish Wankhede are still absconding. A police official said that one Sanjay Umade was running a gambling den at his house in Kaushalya Nagar for the last three weeks. Youngsters from the area used to visit the place for gambling. The officer also said that Swayam and Nishant got into a dispute over the transaction of gambling money on Tuesday. When Swayam asked Nishant for the money, he abused him and refused to return the money. Since then, Swayam was hurling abuses in front of Umade’s house for the last two days. He was also issuing threats to Nishant. On Friday night, he again abused Nishant and others.

 

The official further said that as Nishant suspected that Swayam would kill him, he hatched a conspiracy to eliminate the latter. Nishant, Shaktiman and two juveniles reached near the house of Swayam. When they found Swayam sitting in an autorickshaw, Nishant boarded the three-wheeler and others surrounded the vehicle. Nishant caught hold of Swayam and Shaktiman stabbed him in the chest with a sharp-edged weapon. As Swayam collapsed in the pool of blood, the assailants fled the spot. DCP (Zone IV) Dr Akshay Shinde, staff of Ajni Police Station led by PI Vinod Choudhary rushed to the spot and took Nishant into custody and detained two minors within an hour while Shaktiman remained absconding.

 

Rivals smash Shaktiman’s head with bricks A TEAM of Ajni Police Station was deployed in a police van in the area to prevent any untoward incident in the aftermath of Swayam Nagarale’s murder. Before the police could trace the culprits, deceased Swayam’s gang members Abu Ghodeswar, Birju, Akash, Suresh and Satish traced Shaktiman, who was hiding at his uncle’s house in Bhande Plot. At 7.30 am on Saturday, they reached at Bhande Plot. They threatened Shaktiman of dire consequences and took him to Kaushalya Nagar on a motorcycle. After bringing him to the area where Swayam was murdered, they beat up him mercilessly. They smashed his head and chest with bricks and fled the spot after Shaktiman collapsed in the pool of blood. Policemen reached the spot and rushed profusely bleeding Shaktiman to a GMC&H. Doctors have put Shaktiman on the ventilator support as his condition is critical. A strong police bandobast was deployed during the funeral procession of Swayam on late Saturday evening.
