A webinar on ‘Application of Remote Sensing Technology Agriculture’ was organised by Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CCOST) on Saturday. To develop scientific awareness in the community, webinars series is being organised by the CCOST on various topics pertaining to the Sections and Project being taken up by the Council. Director General of the CCOST Mudit Kumar Singh presided over the session of the webinar. In his opening remarks, Director General Dr Singh deliberated about the topic and its importance in the State.
 
He also remarked that the agriculture is the core of our economy and any developmental and scientific activity in the agriculture sector is of utmost importance. Further he also remarked that these webinars are a social initiative by the Council to connect people with the science and scientific fraternity and this will also benefit the flagship and Narva, Garwa, Ghurwa and Baadi scheme.
 
Scientist of the CCOST Akhilesh Tripathi explained in detail about the history of remote sensing and its application in agriculture, especially rice crop whose acreage and area estimation is carried out in Chhattisgarh in collaboration with MNCFC since 20 years. Scientists from Agriculture, Horticulture, Regional Science Centers and other various government departments, students and researchers from various institutions participated in the webinar.
