The holy month of Sawan has begun on Sunday. During the month of the Sawan, there will be total of four Mondays this year. First Sawan Somvar will be on July 26 and second Savan Somvar fast will be held on August 2. Third Sawan Somvar fast will be held on August 9 and 16 respectively. The Sawan will end on August 22. Pandit H P Tiwari informed said that Lord Shiva is worshiped by Hindu devotees during the month of Sawan. The devotees observe a fast on each Savan Somvar . According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that doing so fulfil all the wishes of the devotee. The month of Sawan dedicated to Lord Shiva is the fifth month of the Hindi month according to the Hindu calendar. The Monday fast of Sawan month has great importance among Hindus.

The month of Sawan is also known as the month of Sawan. This Sawan month is dedicated to Lord Shiva Shankar. Devotees offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiva in this month. With this, Lord Shiva takes away all their sufferings by showering his grace on the devotees. During the month of Sawan, Shiva devotees take out kavadiya and perform jalabhishek. It is believed that by observing a fast on Monday by unmarried girls and worshiping Lord Shiva, he grants them the boon of getting the desired groom.

The Sawan month celebrations will be low-key affairs due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the state this year. Only few devotees will be allowed to perform pooj-archana at the temples this year. This year though the temples are opened but the administration will be maintaining a strict vigil so that the people do not gather in temples in large numbers. There will be prohibitions and restriction during the entire period as there is a fear of third wave of Corona looming large and any negligence could lead to a disaster, stated a Government official.
