There was no Question Hour on the first day of Monsoon Session
Chhattisgarh Assembly on Monday paid tributes to nine former MLAs and MPs, who died in the period between the last and present sitting of the House.
 
Among those who were remembered by the House were former MLAs Gulab Singh, Somprakash Giri, Balaram Verma, Balram Singh and Khelan Ram Jangade, former MP Karuna Shukla, former Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and MLA Badridhar Diwan, former Minister Dr Shakrajeet Nayak, former Rajya Sabha Member Ramadhar Kashyap.
 
Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr Charan Das Mahant recalled the social services rendered by these nine political personalities. Speaker Dr Mahant expressed grief over the demise of these leaders and termed the deaths as an irreparable loss. The Speaker also expressed his condolences towards the family members of these leaders and prayed to God to give enough strength to the bereaved families to bear the loss.
 
In his speech in the House, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed grief over the demises of these nine political leaders and recalled their contributions in the field of social services. The Chief Minister also paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
 
Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dharamlal Kaushik, former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Raipur South MLA Brijmohan Agrawal, Kurud MLA Ajay Chandrakar, MLA Dr Vinay Jaiswal, Lormi MLA Dharamjeet Singh, Mungeli MLA Punnulal Mohile, Beltara MLA Rajnish Kumar Singh, MLA Narayan Chandel, Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Keshav Prasad Chandra and others remembered the contribution of these leaders in House.
These MLAs also paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The House also kept a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
 
The Monsoon Session of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly started on Monday paying tributes to those public representatives, who died from March to July during the Covid-19 pandemic period. The Speaker suspended the proceedings of the House for 10 minutes as a mark of respect to these departed souls. There was no Question Hour on the first day of the Monsoon Session on Monday.
