Raipur district emerged as champion in the 18th Chhattisgarh State Senior (Men/Women) Weightlifting Championship (held at Dallirajhara from July 23 to 25.

 

Weight lifters from Raipur bagged 18 medals, including seven gold, five silver and six bronze, in the championship. Women weight lifters bagged one gold, one silver and two bronze.

 

Subhash Lahre lifted a total 258 kg weight in the 67-kg category to become the champion in the men’s category. Raipur District Weightlifting Association patron Rajjan Shrivastav, Rajendra Singh Yadav, Budhram Sarang, Pradeep Khatriya, Sanghratn Gedam, Shashi Sahu and other congratulated the team.

 

Coach Ajay Deep Sarang, manager Pankaj Shukla and Chandan Bharti also extended greeting to the weight lifters.
