Cyber crooks dupe two persons of Rs 3.20 lakh

Two persons were duped by cyber crooks of Rs 3.20 lakh in separate cases in Kapil Nagar and Sadar police station areas. The police have registered the cases and are trying to locate the accused persons. In the first case, a 42-year-old man was duped by a cyber fraudster of Rs 2.31 lakh on pretext of activating his debit card of Bank of Baroda. According to police, Siddhardh Khushal Gajbhiye, a resident of MID Quarter No. A/48, Kapil Nagar, received a phone call on November 17. Impersonating himself as customer care executive of the bank, the caller told Gajbhiye that his debit card is inactive due to some reasons.
 
On pretext of activating the card, the fraudsters siphoned off Rs 2.31 lakh from the bank account by generating One Time Password (OTP). An offence under Section 420 of Indian Penal Code read with Section 66 (d) of Information Technology Act was registered by Kapil Nagar police. In yet another case, an on-line fraudster duped a 50-year-old man of Rs 90,900 by using TeamViewer mobile application. According to police, Faizan Mobinadal Haque, a resident of Plot No. 18, Surana Layout, Raj Nagar, received a phone call from the fraudster on Monday. Believing the words of the caller, Haque downloaded the TeamViewer App in his mobile phone and lost Rs 90,900 to the fraudster. An offence under Sections 420, 419 of IPC read with Section 66 (c) of IT Act was registered by Sadar police.
