A soulful music performance by Ustad Alauddin Khan Academy of Music and Arts and Ishaq Khan playing Sarangi were telecasted under the online cultural series ‘Gamak’ on Wednesday. In view of the Covid-19 epidemic, various academies of Madhya Pradesh Government, Culture Department have organised online series ‘Gamak’ on the social media platforms, focusing on the activities of multiple disciplines.

 

The programme is live on the YouTube Channel and Facebook page of the Department. Euphonious singing performance by Ravi Shankar Dixit and team was the curtain raiser of the programme on Wednesday. Dixit presented Alaap in Raag Bagheshri, Nibaddh in Teen Taal, Alaap Chhota Khayal in Raag Yaman and concluded with Nibaddh in Tarana Teen Taal. Dixit was accompanied by Harmonium player Jitendra Sharma and Tabla player Anurag Prajapati. Dixit received his preliminary music training from Yogesh Dixit, Sanjay Sharma, Chandrakaant Bhargava and Lashkar Guruji and received duly training from Sarbat Hussain and Thakur Harishchandra.

 

Dixit graduated in Prayag Sangeet from Khairagarh University. He has lifted his mellifluous voice at various prestigious stages of the nation. This was followed by Sarangi playing staged by Ishaq Khan, who presented Nibaddh Bada Khayal in Raag Shuddh Sarang and Nibaddh Chhota Khayal in Teentaal. Khan was accompanied by Ravindra Taank on Tabla. Khan received his initial Sarangi training from father Ustaad Abdul Samad Khan and duly training from Ustaad Shehzaad Khan. He carries the experience of performing at numerous esteemed stages of the country. Under the ‘Gamak’ series, the Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy is gearing up to present the drama ‘Nadi Pyaasi si’ on July 29, which will be staged by the artists of Young’s Theatre Foundation, under the direction of Sarfaraz Hassan.
