THE Supreme Court on Friday said that it would hear on August 3 the plea filed by the former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh seeking protection from ‘coercive action’ in a money laundering case. A Bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar posted the plea for August 3 along with similar petitions seeking no coercive action in money laundering cases. “List this plea on August 3 along with connected cases so that similar orders are passed in all cases with regard to no coercive action being taken,” the Bench said. Deshmukh is being probed by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case of alleged extortion from orchestra bars in the state.

ED summons Deshmukh, son again: The Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to Anil Deshmukh and his son Hrishikesh to appear before it on Monday here in connection with a money laundering case probe, official sources said. Deshmukh has skipped at least three ED summonses in the past. His son and wife too were summoned and they also did not appear.
