With the motive to avert / delay the possible third wave of COVID-19 pandemic across Twin City, the civic authority has decided to ramp up its health infrastructure to combat spread of infection. As per information, as many as 2,32,586 residents from Bhilai got benefitted with first dose of COVID vaccination till date during the BMC run vaccination drives. In wake of the alarming uptick in COVID-19 cases across the state, with Durg district being at the centre point of the resurge, the Bhilai Municipal Corporation on Monday decided to ramp up the testing and bed capacity in city within the next two weeks. Besides, the officials, employees and sanitary workers from Bhilai MunicipalCorporation (BMC) are leaving no stone unturned to contain further spreading of COVID-19 in city.
 
The BMC authority has been imposing challan on those who spit in public places and also those not wearing masks and the enforcement team would visit each wards to monitor and to track down such Covidiots. Moreover, the BMC officials have intensified door-to-door visits to check for people with any history of intra-state travel, anyone with COVID-19 symptoms and also tracking those discharged after showing no symptoms. The BMC authority has announced that the city has crossed the landmark of 2.32 lakh vaccinations while adding that the civic body was in full control of the situation and confident of controlling the pandemic in time. Besides, the civic authority has intensified RAT drive for early detection of COVID cases. In the RAT drive, the BMC authority has been reporting true positive if the suspect is tested positive and if the suspect tested negative is an asymptomatic, then it declares as negative. Similarly, to accelerate the COVID-19 testing rate, the BMC authority has been initiated home testing facilities for suspected and city residents with travel history, which can be availed of through a helpline.
