Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi on Tuesday chaired a crime review meeting and directed all the Superintendents of Police (SPs) to launch ‘Operation Clean’ against bootlegging, gambling and other illegal activities. Meanwhile, the police chief gave specific directives to all the SPs to take necessary steps to put an immediate ban on illegal businesses. If illegal businesses are found operational in any district then the SP will be responsible for it and action will be taken against the concerned officer under whose jurisdiction such activities are reported, said DGP Awasthi. During the virtual meeting all the IGs were also present.
 
Giving specific directives related to crime against women, DGP Awasthi said that prompt hearing should be given to crime related to women. A cell constituted to deal with crime against women and children needs to be acted promptly so that such crimes could be prevented. Moreover, the police chief directed the SPs to ensure deployment of female officials in isolated areas and places where incidents of eve-teasing were frequently reported.
 
For prevention of crimes, ensure deployment of those police personnel whose information gathering network is strong. On the occasion, DGP ordered the officials to take immediate actions in cases related to chit funds and ensure disposal of pending cases. The meeting was attended by Raipur Range IG and IG Intelligence Dr Anand Chhabra, DIG (CID) Himani Khanna, AIG Rajesh Agrawal, AIG U B S Chouhan.
