VIDARBHA cricketers Faiz Fazal, Atharva Taide and Mohit Kale have been constantly contributing in the success of their respective teams in English and Irish cricket leagues this season. All three of them had nice outings with Taide and Kale helping their sides to victory while Vidarbha skipper’s yet another ton went in vain. Taide’s all-round show fashioned Lancaster Cricket Club’s thumping nine-wicket win over Kendal Cricket Club in Division One match of Northern Premier Cricket League at Lune Road Cricket Ground. With Taide (14.2-3-60-6) claiming six wickets, Kendal, won the toss and elected to bat, were shot out for 169 in 42.2 overs. Coming at one down, southpaw Taide hit an unbeaten 77 that came from 100 balls and contained eight fours as Lancaster reached the target losing just one wicket in 49.4 overs.

Kale to Wem’s rescue Kale excelled with bat and ball in a low-scoring Premier Division Two encounter of Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League as Wem Cricket Club defeated Dorridge Cricket Club by 29 runs. Taking first strike, Wem managed just 143 before being all out in 35.1 overs. Coming at the fall of opener Sam Peate, Kale top-scored with 29. To defend a meagre total, Wem needed some quick wickets and new ball bowler Andrew Harrison (10-1-29-4) gave the team a fine start.

But when the Dorridge tail looked like spoiling the party, Kale’s (8.3-0-19-2) off-spin did the trick. Faiz hits hundred PLAYER of match Faiz Fazal’s ton went in vain as Lisburn lost to Civil Service North by 69 runs via DLS method in Premier League at Stormont in Ireland. In the rain affected match, Lisburn were given a revised target of 282 in 42 overs after Civil Service North had scored 287 all out in 49 overs. Opening the innings, left-handed Faiz (100; 94b, 10x4, 3x6) dropped anchor at one end mixing caution and aggression but received little support form the other end. Stumper Jonathan Waite’s 23 was the next best contribution. Faiz was ninth out and soon the team folded at 212.
