INDIA’S national flag was hoisted in Poland as ace archer Amit Kumar bagged a gold medal for India at Cadet Youth World Archery Championship. Amit shone as India defeated France 5-1 in final of the recurve team event in the championship, held at Wroclaw city of Poland. Amit Kumar, who wore blue in the finals, scored 72 out of 80 and Services’ Vishal Changmay and Vicky Kushal scored 73 points each.
 
Apart from this, India won the gold medal by defeating Japan 6-2 in the recurve cadet mix team event of the Cadet Youth World Archery Championship. In the recurve cadet men’s individual event, Indian team player Vishal Changmay defeated Kazakhstan 6-4 to win a bronze medal for the country. Madhya Pradesh Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia, congratulated the players for winning the medals and had a telephonic conversation with the players and the coach Richpal Singh. She even saw the match live and said that by winning a gold medal on Independence Day, the players have made the nation proud. Director Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Jain, while appreciating the performance of the players of the Indian Archery team, which brought the country a gold medal, said that Amit Kumar, a promising player of Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy, made invaluable contribution in getting the country a gold medal. Director Jain, while congratulating the Indian Archery Team and the Chief Instructor of Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy Richpal Singh Salaria, said that the Indian archery team has brought two golds and one bronze medal to the country, which is a matter of pride.
